We source our Al Baraka Nigella Seeds from an extended family farm in Fayoum, Egypt, an ancient agricultural community along the Nile River floodplain. These tiny black seeds have a nutty, herbal, gently bitter flavor with warm, toasty notes. Long cherished in Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian cooking, they are traditionally sprinkled over breads, cheeses, hummus, salads, and other cold dishes.
Nigella seeds shine in baking and cheesemaking, adding savory depth and subtle crunch. Use them whole, lightly toasted, or freshly ground into spice blends or pastes similar to tahini. Their distinctive aroma and flavor make even the simplest dish feel layered and complete.
Cooking Tips
• Lightly toast to release essential oils, then add to curries, soups, or sauces
• Sprinkle over breads, pastries, or incorporate into doughs and batters
• Add to pickles, relishes, or chutneys for earthy, aromatic complexity
A small seed with a big, beautiful history and flavor.
