Basotho graphics are inspired by traditional culture in Lesotho. One of the most important experiences people can have in Lesotho is with creative expression, including music and dance. Dancing is sacred, social, and central to marking many important events.
This image is of a traditional dance performed by girls for the coming of age celebration. Girls use bottle caps strung together under the skirts to create a percussive sound while they dance. The skirts are upcycled from plastic feed sacks.
